The market.

Three pages. Who actually ships V2X in a production vehicle and who quietly stopped. The strongest available argument for building a car that does not need anyone else, stated fairly and then answered. And the supply chain underneath all of it.

The shape of the market

Two numbers, and the gap between them.

Volkswagen has produced more than two million Car2X-equipped vehicles. And no automaker ships 5.9 GHz V2X in a United States production vehicle. Both were true in August 2026.

The reason is not technical. V2V safety benefits scale roughly with the square of fleet penetration, so an early adopter pays full cost for near-zero benefit; infrastructure owners will not invest without vehicles; vehicles are not fitted without infrastructure. Regulation is the only mechanism that has reliably broken that deadlock, and only one jurisdiction is currently attempting it. India's draft mandate →
